Full Moon in Capricorn: Back to the Middle
We have been on an intense, roller-coaster journey during these past few weeks between the eclipses. A portal was opened and we have been pushed through whether we were ready or not. The change was upon us before we knew it and it was sink or swim. Not making a decision was not an option. Either we took control of the change or the change took control of us.
Now that portal is closing and we're left wondering, "What just happened here?" Eclipses are key turning points in our collective development which are sometimes loud or sometimes soft. These last two were particularly loud.
Last New Moon, we were staring into the abyss, contemplating that point of no return. Now that we're on the other side, we have learned so much. We know who were really our friends. We know our true enemies. We chose our path (or it was chosen for us). We have experienced some of the initial consequences of our actions (or inaction).
To truly understand the impact of eclipses, one must understand that they are part of long-term cycles. The last series of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses was in 2009. Are some of those same issues resurfacing now? We may be seeing them now from the other side because when the Nodes return to the signs, the axis is flipped. In other words, in 2009, the North Node was in Capricorn with the South Node in Cancer. Now, the North Node is in Cancer with the South Node in Capricorn. That means that in 2009, the answer was to take a practical, grounded, no-nonsense Capricorn approach to whatever issues we were facing. However, currently, that's the exact opposite of what we need to do. At this point, a nurturing, caring Cancer approach is required to resolve them.
I see astrology as a way of tapping into the cosmic flow of the Universe. The major mistake of Western philosophy is to see us humans as existing outside of nature. As if nothing in the natural world has any effect on our psyches, our personalities, or any of the things we create with our minds. However, science continues to expand our understanding our how integrally connected our bodies and our minds are. Our bodies are absolutely connected to the physical world around us. That means that our minds and our spirits are too. Astrology is only one way to conceptualize and understand energetic cycles.
Each series of eclipses is one way of keeping us integrated. When we go too far in one direction, the next series of eclipses takes us back toward the middle. Individually and collectively, we are always in the process of evolution. If the past few weeks have left us drained, exhausted, and worried, it's okay. It's all part of the process of growth. Change is never easy. In this Cancer moment, our work is to treat each other with compassion and understanding.
