HOLY HERETIC SUNDAY MEDITATION December 23, 2018

“A kunle (We are all on our knees)
A be o (We are all begging you)
E wole fobinrin (Let us all kneel and prostrate before women)
Obinrin lo bi wa  (We are all born by women)
Ka too deniyan (Before we become recognized as human beings)” – prayer to Oshun, Benevolent Mother

Today’s featured transit: Grand Water Trine – Moon in Cancer, Venus in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces

Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet to speak to the nations.”

The first time I recognized The Mothers, I was standing in El Mina Castle, on Cape Coast in Ghana. I had been overwhelmed by the existential, evil stench of the place. I wandered around, disgusted, angry, fully comprehending for the first time everything that we had lost. No longer just an intellectual exercise but now visceral and gut-wrenching.

I was standing in the Women’s Dungeon when I first felt it. Just a little glimmer which grew stronger as I recalibrated and tuned into the frequency. Then it became all encompassing. A feeling of unconditional love and acceptance which I had never felt before.

The Mothers has been waiting for me. They knew I would come and they were so glad to see me. I was everything they had hoped and more. I was beautiful and perfect to them. They had survived so that I could exist. They had resisted so that I could have a chance.

I left that place changed. I had a new sense of purpose. I didn’t know exactly what was in store for me but I knew I needed to live up the legacy that was left for me. And I knew that they would always be with me.

Today’s action: Meditate on the sacrifices made on your behalf by your birth mother and others who have nurtured you. Rededicate yourself to living up to the legacy they have left you.

Today’s sharing: The energy of the Divine Feminine is made manifest around us in so many ways. We all have that energy of creation and nurturing within us, however, because it is subtle and works in the dark, we have downplayed Her strength. We don’t understand the mystery of how She works within us and we pretend She doesn’t matter or we fight against the ways in which She softens us and opens us up to engagement with everything around us. We fear losing the integrity of our Selves. What we fail to understand is that surrender is strength. Openness to everything around us actually strengthens our boundaries by giving us the capacity to constantly nurture and replenish ourselves. This Winter Solstice, let’s dive deep into the Dark Mystery of The Mother.
